Many themed restaurants bestowed upon their patrons souvenir certificates, which commemorated their exotic dining experience. Trader Vic's rewarded their visitors with Trading Licenses, for drinks and dinner enjoyed at their establishment, while Don the Beachcomber had mock passports with a tapa-patterned cover, which entitled you to fine beachcombing privileges "within the jurisdiction of Don the Beachcomber".

The certificate below is from Trader Vic's restaurant (the Oakland location), celebrating a visitor's drink and dinner experience in 1945.
