Over the years, Canlis has had restaurants in Seattle, Hawaii, Portland, & San Francisco. This 1957 menu is from the Waikiki location, at 2100 Kalakaua Ave. Designed by Honolulu architect Pete Wimberly, it was quite the upscale dining spot in the 1950's & 1960's, with its huge open air dining room, a koi pond, wall of orchid plants, and a giant carved tiki, which is illustrated on the menu cover.
After the business closed, the building was later used as a police station, before being torn down in 1998 to make way for a shopping mall. Though the Hawaii, Portland, and San Francisco Canlis' restaurants are no longer around, the Seattle location (also designed by Wimberly) is still open and thriving today.
